It hit the hot barrier!

They predicted 43 degrees today, and I think they might have been correct!  It was so hot we decided to stay in Burra and sit it out. 

Burra is a heritage mining town and has the most amazing array of old buildings and historical sites. Of course it is a mining town, that exploded into life when they discovered copper. It must have been a hard life, they have even got houses that they tunnelled out of the rock. called dugouts.

We decided to have a car tour of Burra sites today, leaping out of the car to take a picture and back in immediately to the air conditioning.   What an amazing place.  I've got so many images but of course can't put them all on.

But by 2pm we gave up gasping from the heat and sloped home to the cottage. 

In the afternoon we went to the air conditioned library and managed to get on the internet and update some of the blog.  It was so cool we stayed there until we got thrown out.

About 8pm in the evening there was a knock on the door and Mary, the librarian came to visit with her newish orphan Poppy the kangeroo.  Mary takes in orphaned kangaroos and raises them.  What an amazing individual.  A fascinating day in Burra with a real treat to finish it off.
