New Year's Day in Sydney

It's now next year!  and the streets this morning were quiet.  Amazed at how quickly all the rubbish was cleared away and everything seemed back to normal.  Not many people around on the streets, most of them recovering from the late night and hangovers.

We walked down to the Harbour Bridge, through The Rocks area  and around Cockle Bay and we had the place almost to ourselves.  The rocks area was one of the earliest places to be settled in Sydney, with Observatory Hill on the top which great views out to the water.  It has lots of other properties such as these, which are slowly being gentrified.

We walked all around The Rocks trying to find a fabulous fish restaurant that we had gone too the last time we were here.  Unfortunately it had all been flattened and the Cockle Bay rebuilt, very smart, but wanted our restaurant back.

In the late afternoon we did something really Chrismassy - we went to see The Hobbit.
