Onward to Melbourne

30th January

Well it was time to head to Melbourne.  We started the day with a stop at Bells Beach which is the famous surfing beach where the Surf championships are held and where Patrick Swayze copped it surfing in a film that I can't remember the name of, with Keanu Reeves.  nice pecs I remember.

But today it was flat calm for Bells Beach and the pecs weren't quite the same!

Onward we passed na airfield and stopped to see the Tiger Moths.  Rod desperately wanted to go up and fly, but they wouldn't let him..... aaah

We drove on to Queenscliff, a lovely holiday seaside town, which in Edwardian times was where the middle classes went to cool off.  We were told there was a ferry we could catch across the bay, but decided that it wouldn't save us any time and headed on to Melbourne.

A little aside to amuse you!

Queenscliffe Edwardian Villa - lovely

What can I say about the drive to Melbourne  - both Rod and myself nearly had a nervous breakdown. Melbourne ought to be ashamed of it's road system and lack of signposts and crap roads.  But we got to St Kilda finally and I can feel myself getting annoyed again, so am going to finish now.

We arrived in St Kilda to find the accommodation we booked wasn't where we thought, but managed to get it changed thankfully.

More tomorrow.

  1. Think you'll find it was 'Point Break' and you're right about the pecs!
