Echuca

Thursday and Friday - Echuca on the Murray River

Well it was time to leave Beechworth, we couldn’t stay there forever, so we set off for  our next place,  Echuca an inland port on the Murray River.  It was only a couple of hours away so we could take our time.

We took a side road off the highway and went down the Milawa Gourmet trail, which included wineries, cheeseries, olives, and olives.  As it was only 10.30 in the morning s we decided that sampling wine was probably the wrong thing to do, so instead went to the Milawa Cheese Factory.  Mistake!  Bought loads oh dear and then some olives, and then some port of course to go with it all.  Damn the diets buggered again.

Oh and Rod found another pie shop!

At Echuca we booked into the Nirebo Lodge Motel, right in town which was great.  What they forgot to tell us was that it was completely surrounded by a building site, but don’t worry they don’t start work until 7am…. Oh thanks, that’s good to hear.  But it was okay! We stayed two night and the bed was so comfortable..

Still in Echuca, but went out on a paddle steamer in the morning.  It  was brilliant and sat with the driver as we quietly went down the Murray Rivers.  Lots of bird life, Rivers Kites,Shrikes, Blue Wrens, shreaking white Parrokeats, and the lovely Galahs with bright pink all down the front. No crocodiles though!

Thought we would go out for the night and have a good time, and this seemed a good place !
